As a trans woman who lives in New York and works in media
Still don’t understand why Cardi B gets love here. She’s talked about her Bloods gang affiliation in the media (in GQ), and yes, this is why she loves to wear all red; she’s a bully who gets aggressive at slight provocations; when her husband cheats on her, she chooses to attack the women he’s screwing, while treating…
I recognize the entire culture including the terms immediately, and I’m 25 years this man’s junior. Sad how little changed.
This one and the Schneiderman story were co-reported with Jane Mayer. Please don’t forget her!
Two other important takeaways: Mark Judge’s ex says he ashamedly told her about participating in a gang rape. (Well, “a lot of guys having sex with a drunk girl.”) Which corroborates Avenatti’s information.
A couple of studies I read while researching my master’s thesis determined that it was about 6 victims per undetected rapist on average, but there were some super predators with double digits. Lisak and Miller’s average was 5.8 and McWhorter’s was 6.36.
It’s always a good bet, when some powerful man who was a prep-school twat growing up is accused of sexual misconduct, that there are more women. There are (almost) always more women.
I worked with Debbie at a domestic violence shelter (specifically the admin & counseling office). This story captured her so well; she's very thoughtful and reserved, she's really kind and a wonderful ally. We were friendly and would grab happy hour sometimes. I'm heartbroken about the fact that she needed to come…
Incidentally, “train” was indeed the term at the time for a gang rape. My, the things you wish you’d forgotten.
Clearly Grassley knew well before Dr. Ford came out, because how else could he have cobbled together the 65 “female friends of Kavanaugh” for release immediately after her story was published? And how many guys still even know 65 friends - much less just female friends - from high school at age 53, having gone to an…
He knew it ALL. Last week. So did Mitch.
“Ronan Farrow has a new article” is this generation’s “Omar comin’.”
3.6 miles. He could ride his bike there. Also, if he was a Georgetown Prep student, it’s possible he was commuting from the campus, is also under 5 miles. AND the house is off Connecticut Ave, which I guarantee you has like a dozen bus lines.
You ain’t lyin’, Mazie. Keep yelling! They need to step up, and they need to keep hearing that they need to step up for as long as they keep failing to step up.
Mahalo, Mazie!
I don’t know what I want, at this point. I respect the guy’s mind, but his actions leave something to be desired. I put in my application, but I imagine that I won’t even get an interview considering that he’s met me and already knows that I’m not his physical type. On the other hand, it’s bullshit that a clerkship…
Please take this lesson that I had to learn the hard way; you don’t want that clerkship. There will be another judge out there who will see you for the smart person you are and that one is the one that will be worth your time.
I’m looking at judicial clerkships right now and I was told recently that I “should be fine” to clerk for a particular guy because I “don’t give off the impression” I’d “put up with it.”
Yep. This is so gross. I got into a huge argument with my two (male) supervisors at a job I had in a male-dominated industry after hearing one of them recommend a candidate to the other, throwing in, “she’s really cute” with a list of other qualifications. I asked them what that had to do with anything, and it…
I have no idea what you’re talking about! It’s not like Bart O’Kavanaugh is parading around with attractive, thin, female law clerks like they’re his escorts or something.
