The Hotel Pennsylvania hasn’t been fancy shmancy in quite a few decades. Once was, certainly, could be again with a lot of vision and investment, but right now, its easily one of the most run down flea bags in the city. 

It was also a fucking WAY lot more expensive, e.g. about $1000 from Boston to L.A. One way. You can certainly still get that kind of service now, if you’re willing and able to shell out for it.
