As annoying and intrusive as it is, I would be fine with doxxing of the direct phone numbers of the staffers who work on the issue. It happened to me when I was a staffer...

Also worth noting that the Supreme Court cases that upheld the Chinese Exclusion Act are still good law.

I totally get what you are saying, but even if the Members of Congress ask each show every day if they can come on, very rarely do the shows actually book them. I hope that changes, but I wanted to share what little insight I have about the process.

Even as a slightly high profile Senator (which I consider Senator Brown to be), it is hard to get booked on a lot of the shows. Just FYI, it may not be him choosing to be more workhorse than show horse, but it may just be that the shows won’t book him frequently. Maybe they will start booking more members of Congress

My bad. I thought you were calling for Congress to do something to provide timely relief for the people impacted by this EO...

Members of Congress don’t have standing to sue in these sorts of cases, I’m pretty sure.

I’m not sure what Congress could do because this order is arguably already contrary to current law... that didn’t stop him from issuing it. Judicial review seems to be the only avenue left (other than public pressure to get Trump himself to walk this back).

I literally got mine inserted on January 20th :D

This is true! And often there are several staffers in the state office(s) whose jobs are focused on constituent outreach, so they would be ready and able to hear from you and/or schedule meetings to hear more from you.

It is often quite easy to make an appointment with staff in either the state office (or the DC office, if you’re there). It’s worth submitting a meeting request before you show up... you may also get the Member of Congress too if you present your group/issue in a compelling way and it works for scheduling (Members are

You really need to up your trolling game.

This, exactly. Great advice.

Yep, I am amazed that the author of this report is unaware that this is a purely messaging amendment that was meant to be a trap! Or if the reporter was aware, failing to explain the type of vote and its context falls well below the standards to which reporters hold themselves.

I agree and I have been frustrated by a good deal of Jezebel’s politics reporting lately. They need someone with expertise in the federal government to do this sort of reporting or edit these sorts of reports.

I have a feeling that the attendees at the inauguration are going to mostly Trump supporters. I can’t imagine anyone else corralling tickets, making the trek, and standing out in the cold for hours. Thus, I don’t think an exceptionally warm welcome is in store for her.

Yeah, I usually avoid ad hominem attacks in favor of critiques on the substance, but this article screams that it was written by someone with no expertise in intel, cyber security, or government in general.

I had to man the front desk phones for about 3 hours, during the 2013 shutdown and the interns, staff assistants, and other more junior staffers were not allowed to work... I wasn’t expecting for how nerve wracking the experience would be! When I picked up the phone, I never knew if it would be a crazy ranting person,

This is great advice. I also add that we should contact Dems who are either not advocates for choice or are anti-choice. There are anti-choice Dems in Congress today.

People who have known him for years do say that he is suffering from a psychological disorder. Some say that he has always been a psychopath, but even those who were his friends note that there is something new going on with his mental wellbeing.

And even during the “reset” attempt, Hillary warned Obama not to play into Putin’s hand by being friendly, flattering, or permissive towards Putin. I believe her advice was “strength and resolve were the only language Putin would understand.”
