That is my understanding. When you are referring to the population as a whole, or in the abstract as in this article, it is a nongendered way to do so.

It would also be interesting to see State police stops vs Local police stops. State police being recruited trained centrally and then dispatched to different state areas, vs local cops who are typically locals, less trained and work where they live.

Well, I guess this can explain another reason the illegal opiod crisis is devastating the white community. They just drive on through with the drugs...basically!

It would also be interesting to know the geography involved since all 3 examples have major disparities between urban and rural regions, as well as how that impacts the results. I feel like someone is much more likely to be searched in Cincinnati than in a super rural small town.

My inner cynic says it’s being written by lobbyists and then delivered to the Senate for approval.

Stops don’t just happen on the highway. Plenty of stops occur after a cop has observed a driver in a parking lot or on a local street, where traffic is slower.

As a law enforcement officer, I find these results interesting. I don’t think they go far enough, however. I think if you take these results and overlay them on general economic levels of each ethnicity/race, you’ll find the underlying reason behind the disproportionate results: economic disparity.

im confused by that dashed line down 2013 and i even read the source article. what is it? i feel dumb.

I wish there was a way to key in specifically on towns where traffic stops are key to the communities’ revenue streams. In towns where cops need to issue a set number of tickets to keep the lights on, I would expect racial disparities to be far worse as individual cops are free to indulge their personal biases as they

It’s an expensive venture capital funded bus for non-plebes.

No, this is a ridesharing disruptor service. You’re confused because it sounds very similar.

so it’s a bus route, except maybe you won’t see a poor person? truly innovative

I have personally watched well over $100 million in auto loans cross my desk. Believe me people come in all hours of the day trying desperatly to trade, roll negative etc. The banks will loan sometimes up to 150% loan to value of vehicles (i.e. Car is worth 10k they will loan you 15k on it)

This is America, Sir. The entire economy is based on people buying shit they don’t need with money they don’t have. Now, do your civic duty and go shopping.

The typical buyer replaces their car every 3-5 years. This is part of the problem right there - this means most people are treating their car loan like a revolving loan. Between the various sources of advertising for banks, car manufacturers, and dealers, the costs associated with this kind of long term indebtedness

Yeah, I’ve got to agree with you. There is a huge difference between receiving Financial Advice, and a Sales Pitch, and our capitalist society doesn’t really like to clear up the difference between the two in order to create informed buyers. I’m hesitant to use the word “entrapment” because of the criminal

maybe we have a duty as a society to protect them?

This article needs to be renamed "Parenting: The Vulcan Way"

I think this technique at least addresses the first part—making sure kids know that you've heard their question. (That is, unless you end up just saying "Asked and answered" mindlessly, which is not what this is recommending.)

I understand that you are feeling disappointed. You prejudged parents who would use this technique and assumed that they are not very good parents. Instead, maybe you could try assuming that most parents do try to explain things to their children and do try to help their children understand their feelings. Maybe
