I've been through the NRA safety course several times (required in my state before you can get your carry permit), and every time, the instructor brought this issue up. For every situation you might find yourself in where being armed would be helpful, there are a hundred situations where it can only make things worse.

I don't know what that deleted guy was talking about, but I'm a responsible gun owner and I loathe today's NRA. There was a time when they promoted responsible gun ownership and common sense regulations, but that was a long time ago.
