Do people really focus that much on Untappd ratings a la Yelp? For me and my friends it’s much more about “collecting” unique check-ins and interesting badges.

I was pissed about how poor the planning and communication during the storm was, but ultimately they extended the thing and we got three good hours at the fest, so it wasn’t that bad.
“How long have you lived in this house? It’s just going to be a pig named Baryshnikov or some damn thing.”
Yes, this is the right answer.
Ok, here’s a plot thing I just don’t get: At the start of the season they announced that there were 7 Macguffin signals all over the galaxy. Then they spent the rest of the season waiting for the signals to show up. But if the signals were showing up one by one, how did they know there were seven of them?
Tangential opinion: While sometime it may have been necessary for plot or characterization purposes, the show’s tendency to murder, maim, and torture children as a way to goose tension and raise stakes is something I have always hated.
True, but my main point is that even if SNL did want to go for the jugular I’m not sure what they could do. If the emperor sticks his dick in the mashed potatoes every single day, there’s not much impact to pointing out he has no clothes.
I like Aidy’s Carrie Krum, but the characterization is more like a 4th grader, or maybe a 7th grader from 1984.
I’ll grant that a) “The Mueller report was a big nothing” was an odd an inaccurate thing to say at the top of the show and b) the jail sketch wasn’t very good. But I still don’t understand this harping week after week about the weakness of SNL’s political comedy. What is your idea for a really biting premise for a…
I can see the villain and his relationship with his family as a pretty transparent take on toxic masculinity, but I didn’t really get that out of the Billy Batson side. Yeah, he was a kind of a dick in parts, but he was a dick in pretty standard for movies 14-year-old-orphan-who-doesn’t-trust-family ways.
Yeah, it would have been considerably more interesting to eavesdrop on a conversation between Holt and Kevin about the decision to have or not have kids.
Yeah, on a storytelling and character development front this was a mess. Still, I’m an absolute sucker for the gag where one person is talking about one thing and the other person is talking about sex, so the little three minute mini-farce at Jay’s house made the episode for me.
Hey, Salty, thanks for the shot at only children. That was definitely called for and completely relevant to this etiquette question.
There is something to appreciate here about this episode being such a pure distillation of the sitcom form. There were situations, and there was comedy. Fin.
Own your truth and everything but figure out what you want before you get in line.
Yeah, it was a good ep, but the pacing issues knocked it down a few points for me. I wanted more sketches. In particular, I wanted something as weird and Mulaney-esque as “Sitcom Reboot”, my favorite from John’s last appearance.
I don’t hate Manny quite as much as most people seem to, but, yeah, in this context that was an incredibly deserved and satisfying “fuck off”. That plus the opening and tag with Phil’s sleep magic elevates this one to at least B- territory for me.
Wait, I don’t understand. This makes it sound like Gina leaving was a bad thing.
One star has “had some conversations” with Sorkin about the show coming back “at some point”. How is that news?
Trump is the same every week. SNL’s take on Trump is the same every week. And Dennis’s take on SNL’s take is the same every week. Seems like as Sisyphean nightmares go, this one should be relatively escapable, but here we are.
