I have owned an E46 and driven the E36 M3. IMHO, the E36 sold in the North American market does not come close. I have said this before and been called names, so I’ll have to say I don’t get this infatuation with the E36 chassis in these parts. Now if you are talking about the European model, you have a point.

That’s odd, I have never found many problems with it. It definitely is very different from the inline 6 in my old E46, but that is to be expected. Maybe this is because I am accustomed to the similar noise of the WRX. Also, since it has only 4 cylinders, I didn’t have a high expectation to begin with.
