As someone who works in the abortion field, I am SO appreciative of this segment. John has done more to sum up what is going on in a digestible 16 minute clip than I could ever do. When you’re in the field you can obviously talk for HOURS about any topic, because you have a lot of knowledge, but also because you see

And the right to at least 6 months of paid leave.

The story about the 13 year old rape victim is heartbreaking. If that doesn’t meet the standard of “undue burden”, such a phrase is well and truly meaningless.

If men got pregnant the right to an abortion would be the first amendment.

“They claim to be worried about privacy and Republican state Senator Kim Thatcher says the bill can somehow put victims of sexual assault and stalking at risk, though it’s unclear how.”

I love it when fence-sitters like you try very earnestly to explain that some people sincerely believe abortion is murder. You’re like the apologist who insists that more people would embrace Christianity if they just knew all the cool stuff Jesus said, like that shit is some well-kept secret. WE FUCKING GET IT. THE

You actually don’t sound undecided at all.

If you’re undecided on the abortion issue, stop thinking about it as abortion and think about it as comprehensive medical care. Getting basic, competent medical advice, making your own decisions on that advice and living life as best you can are basic human rights. Not something that should be weighed by moral

If you are undecided or against abortion, that’s 100% fine. The issue is when you or people like you want push your beliefs and legislate those beliefs to impact all women. That’s the point here. Essentially: mind your own business.

If we had some safe way to gestate them outside of a human body, I’d be more willing to call this murder, but with the whole concept of body autonomy, I personally don’t think its right to force someone to carry a pregnancy they didn’t want.

So much this. I was always pro-choice, but I can distinctly remember two instances in my pregnancy - one as I was throwing up everything I’d eaten all day after having to bolt from the dinner table, and the other as I was on doctor’s appointment number four for the week (while starving, because thanks gestational

Same here. Nothing made me understand how important a woman’s right to choose is until I had a baby myself.

Thank you so much for sharing your story.

So you’re saying you made a well thought out, reasonable decision about your health and your body; the people responsible for it did not judge or subject you to their personal bias; and your supportive partner was there for you and cared for you before, during and after.

Good for her. My aunt was given 4-5 months to live, unless she went on chemo which would—possibly—have extended her life for another year. But, the entire time would be spent in chemo, and mostly in a hospital. She told her oncologist ‘No, thanks. I’m going camping.’ And she did. And was happy. RIP Aunt Jean!

That was one of the big problems with this piece. This guy, who probably pitched this piece because he wanted to re-use the reporting/sources he had from Holtzclaw’s college football career, thought he was doing something in the vein of “Serial” or “Making A Murderer.” But he never actually investigated the case or

Oh honey, I think it’s 150% time to go back on the Lexapro.

Count the motherfucking clauses in that sentence. Forget the horrifying shit show that was the topic, any editor who let that damn clusterfuck out the door should be fired on the spot for that alone.

Sad for her family. That one tweet though.. “I didn’t know her, but she was beautiful”... sums up that stupid show.
