Chimchar/Infernape is not only one of the few times one starter is BY FAR better than the others, but he’s one of the best mons of this Gen full stop. I still laugh when I one shotted my friend’s Empoleon with my Infernape, him switching in his starter thinking he got one over on me.

Not really. That would require you to train a few extra mons to be up to level to your current team for this to work which, at that point, you might as well sink the time into leveling your current team
