Movie wise, not really much of a distinction at all. The Warcraft RTS games and WoW exist in the same universe and the stories intermingle. I'm not a WoW guy but I'm pretty sure WoW picks up after the evens of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne or at least incorporates them into world.

It badly needs multiplayer, and it's absence is odd considering the multilayer pedigree of both games it's riffing. Amplitude was one of the first online capable PS2 games and had multi tap suppot for local play and Rock Band is… Rock Band.
