1) The point is does it matter who is more wrong? (the argument you are trying to prove)
1) The point is does it matter who is more wrong? (the argument you are trying to prove)
1) So you accuse me of being in middle school, but want to argue who is “more wrong”. Yeah... okay...
A) And what is lost in those summaries? Just take this article here which changes the narrative due to the “summarizing”
1) Just because what Musk did was wrong, doesn’t mean it’s justifiable enough to be sued for 190 million wrong. And Unsworthy wasn’t in the right either (2 wrongs never make a right)
A) Have you been in the court room?
1) He can think its bullshit all he wants, but that doesn’t make it a fact now does it? That would be an opinion.
The mistake you are making is thinking the insult in question has anything to do with Unworthy calling it a PR stunt. That is NOT the insult (though still is libel as well)
1) Based on what? He hasn’t even seen the details, only based his statements on articles he read which used the incorrect specs for the sub.
So... do I sue you for 190 million now?
1) The lines between accusation and insult can easily be blurred. For example, if someone calls you a motherf***er. Insult? Or accusation of incest?
I think you have your facts mixed up, Musk insulted Unsworthy by calling him pedo after Unsworthy told him to “take his sub and shove it where it hurts.”. Aka, Unworthy insulted first.
Just because its an insult that hits close to home doesn’t change the fact that its an insult. It’s not like Musk filed a police report on him, nor did he specifically publish an article to defame unsworth.
Because people have been insulting each other on the internet since pretty much its existence. And one can only imagine what would happen if lawsuits started breaking out after each insult that happened on the internet.
And why is that? Is it because its not criminal there?
No, the guy said to stick his submarine where it hurts, to which musk insulted back calling him a pedo. (Digging up information on someone who is gonna sue you is literally 101)
Libel has always been a hard case to win in america. Since the guy comes from UK, I can imagine he thought he could win this. But fact of the matter is, US culture cared little for insults one way or the other.
Well maybe one day you’ll also be sued for millions of dollars for insulting someone on the internet who insulted you first. And then realize, “okay maybe I overreacted”
This is a jury trial where both sides got to approve their jury.
Well, that depends on how you look at it. If you consider how much time the journalists spent on actually doing their research on this or thinking if it is even worth publishing, that is probably more time than all of them combined.
No one said he was in the right, but this lawsuit was definitely in the wrong (our tax payer money funded a british guy suing for somone calling him names on the internet). Everyone’s time was wasted on the obvious.
