That isn’t exactly the case... there has been a ton of updates to the Model S, so much so that you can already consider it refreshed. They are simply applying the changes as they come along, not all at once.

And as mentioned in the tweet, the latest major change is a new drivetrain motor.

I don’t think the issues in the initial M3 production could have been really avoided. Could it have been lessened to some extent? Sure. But avoided? Unlikely.

If you look carefully at the wording, Musk considers changing of the motor in the drivetrain as “minor updates”. So from his perspective I’m guessing, a refresh would be closer to original Roadster vs new Roadster. A complete redesign from ground one.

Well, the prius is facing competition and cannibalization while at same time not being very exciting. So while hybrid market is up, the prius fell.

There are no rare elements inside lithium ion batteries, they are all extremely common. The only rare elements are in the motors (assuming they aren’t using ac induction motors), and frankly that never stopped us before. Cars use platinum today which is way rarer than anything that goes into a motor.

Ford Fusion sold pretty decently at 57,474 cars in 2017 or 27% of the hybrid market. This year RAV4 hybrid is outselling the prius by a slight margin.

The i8 was just a plugin hybrid too, and 330e has same terrible electric range as the i8. Hence why I mentioned them, because if the junk that is the i8 is their halo car, the bland ones like 330e were nothing to write home about.

Ugly kidney grills wasn’t what gave them marketshare... so I’m guessing you mean bland cars?

So I asked someone who actually drives in manhattan how people who ride bicycles behave there. (I don’t drive into the city and only around suburbs and highways).

You would always get a ticket for that, I’m talking about situations like where you are on a cross walk, and a pedestrian is there too. You stop to let the pedestrian through, but pedestrian either doesn’t go or is talking to their friends at the edge. Then moment you make your turn they step on the sidewalk at same

There is a rumor of an upgraded config with 3 motors like the Roadster. And a larger battery as well due to switch to the new 2160 cells used in Model 3.

I haven’t paid attention much to cyclists so I can’t say, but if you are in Manhattan, traffic laws in general are a joke. You see crowds of people running red lights like it’s a decoration. So I can only imagine cyclists there won’t be much better. Luckily the other boroughs are “relativelymore behaved.

The cops may prefer that cause half the cars don’t even have working air conditioning.

I’ll translate this to english, NYPD will increase their ticketing quotas and more people would end up with tickets for stupid things simply because a cop needs to meet their quota.

There is, Q3 is interior upgrade and battery and drivetrain upgrades are rumored to be either same time or shortly after

Not to mention Tesla has said there are major refreshes coming, the interior in Q3 2019 and rumor of a battery and drivetrain upgrade either at same time or 2020.

Sure, then educate me on math... I’m waiting.

So your own article says that you are wrong about your claim of “Tesla fires cause 5+ deaths per 100,000 vehicles annually.”

Really? That is news to me cause most years Tesla cars had 0 deaths due to fire. Can you please link 5 deaths due to fire last year? (side note: Tesla has sold over 500,000 cars by end of last year so you would have to prove 25+ deaths by fire)

Moving what goal post? Aren’t we talking about responsibility here? If car manufacturers are responsible, they would recall ALL gas cars due to their higher risk of fire than a Tesla. This is by YOUR standard. Safety is relative to all cars, regardless of the drivetrain. Not to mention you mentioned absolutely nothing
