Collateral was just Mann stripping everything down to the bone. Thats when you can tell who the real craftsman are. Its easy to imagine Mann making that in 84 if Miami Vice hadnt panned out.

One word: Spielberg.
I love the beginning of that sequence-he professionally empties his gun. Takes off his badge 'this is your prize.' and its on.
'WHERES RICHIE???? ANYBODY SEEN RICHIE????'
'And I have to blame T2 for that. T2 is fucking awesome and one of the greatest action movies ever made, but it was SO big that somebody decided every Terminator movie after has to be big action spectacle.'
94 needs to be (Leon) The Professional.
Daniel Baldwin as one of the nameless enforcers???
It still blows my mind that came from an actual movie.
Stone Cold is bascially a remake of COBRA with a former pro football player as the lead and Lance Henriksen AND William Forsythe as the bad guys. What more do you need to know.
I still say the best John Connor is the silent one at the beginning of T2. That giant scar on his face tells you everything.
'Some of the helicopter stuff was so dangerous to film that Cameron had to operate the camera himself.'
Its so nightmarish on a scale Cameron couldnt really get to with the original. I take umbridge with the article saying most of the film takes place during the day. At least half if not 2/3 takes place at night.
'Call to John'
Biehns performance especially.
As Arnold says in T2 'It doesnt work that way…'
My guess is Cameron did some work tightening the script (her post Cameron work has been a little flabby Hurt Locker aside). Because everything in the finished film feels like a 'Kathryn Bigelow' movie.
Morton makes the movie. Think of all the things he has to get across ( playing the man who destroyed the world, but also empathetic, a tech guy surrounded by action people, someone who almost gets killed by a woman then teams up with her, THEN sacrifices himself for her cause) while his character is onscreen for what…
Where are these kid performances everyone praises. CauseI feel like any actor under 15 always gets crapped on.
I cant remember which poster coined the term 'bigger is better sequel' but it applies pretty well across the board
Alien-Aliens
Terminator-T2
Batman Begins-The Dark Knight
Mad Mad-The Road Warrior
A Fistful of Dollars-For a Few Dollars More
The Raid-The Raid 2
etc
'In retrospect, the T2 special effect that really stands out is the opening sequence with the warring endoskeletons.'
