I know Field randomly started getting texts from him in character a couple months before they started shooting. Also everyone on set called him 'Mr President'. Honestly I doubt Spielberg would have put up with it if it wasnt worth it.

Like, they had to have crew carry him around for mobility and allegedly wouldn't even break to do his own hygiene and bathroom needs. The crew had to help him do Numbers 1 & 2.'
