Agreed. The whole point of a final boss fight is for the culmination, not continuation of the status quo. It’s supposed to break the mold and be a spectacle that fully showcases your acquired skills and experience. To that end the final boss of Dead Space was nearly perfect.

Im kinda in the middle here. But also to add to your point, before getting to the boss you do end up in a few more open spaces with necromorphs, and the game starts churning them out in greater numbers. It gets a but more actioney and “badass” right before the last boss.

For me, this boss fight works just like the ending of Aliens. For once, you can kick some freakin’ monster ass, and escape spectacularly.

There was too much build-up in the game to not have a big sequence at the end. Game endings should stand out, otherwise how do we know it’s over?

Never played Dead Space but all that sounds reasonable. I think it’s ok for a final boss to break the mould, as long as it remains enjoyable in its own right.

I totally agree. I think it definitely felt like it belonged there and like Isaac had come a long way since the beginning of the game.

yeah, to me it felt like a final culmination of everything up to that point.

While I agree with the analysis that this last fight breaks from the rest of the game, I don’t necessarily think it is misplaced and let me say why. The whole game of fighting in corridors and fleeing from un-killable enemies, instills this sense of foreboding. You as a player come to expect the jump scares, the grabs

My money’s on a Shadow Tower reboot.

As you are not an economist, I take your economic opinions with a spoonful less salt.

i don’t know anything about this game, community, or player, but reading this makes me want to attend every tournament near me to cheer for this guy. fucking loud.

Geez, the Interwebs are constantly ragging on Kirby’s Dream Course. It’s certainly better than Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts and both Star Fox games. It plays really well even today.

Thems fighting words. I love Kirby’s Dream Course. It’s a much better overall game than pilotwings which has not aged well at all. Though I agree they should’ve included it for history sake.

Sorry bub. You were close but the actual best baseball game with robots and explosions was Base Wars.

Yeah I’m in that boat. No wife but my gf prefers to spend time with me doing something other than watching me play video games. But halo 5 is my game bexause it’s very pickup and put down

Neither are...

I was all about Base Wars back in the day.

THANK YOU! 2020 always felt like another take on Base Wars. It was years before I understood that they were made by different companies. I’d love to see a game that mixed both aesthetics.

BaseWars was a *great* game. I don’t know why no one has bothered to license it out for a reboot.

Ah, Basewars. I sunk so much time into this game back in the day.
