Mine used to just sit on my desk, but now that I've moved to a place that currently doesn't have a light in the backyard (weird, eh?), I use them to watch the dog to make sure he does his business at night (instead of just walking around). He's a black Newfoundland so he's literally impossible to see without them.

This is actually interesting, because I've been thinking recently about what certain genres would be like if they were distilled to the bare bones basics, and what it would be like if you left only the mechanics. Whether or not they'd still be fun, etc. Seems like they'd still be OK.

Once again, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus remake is left out of the 'Looking ahead' section.

Except it's only broken for some people, so it's not a question of poor design. It's just bad programming.

Not sure if you got it or it went over your head, but my < / Simpsons reference > at the end got cut out.

Someone named after an MGS character using the phrase 'too heavy on story' (although failing at grammar).

Thanks CGO!

Dat Bayonetta...

Battlefield isn't Battlefield without 64 players, in my opinion. 64 player BF2 blew my socks off when I first played it, and nothing has come close to that experience since. BF:BC2 was alright, but it just isn't the same.

I agree. This song is super catchy though, <3 it.

Guess they learned their lesson :)

Unfortunately not, thus is the downside to consoles. At least you'll have properly balanced/sized maps for the number of players available. A more lazy developer would just tell you to deal with it :P

Except they're not.

A 590 is ~$700, and not at all required to run BF3 maxed.

They've altered the maps for consoles to fit the smaller amount of players. The areas are smaller (although airspace for jets remains the same. Because they're jets.), so you won't have to run for 20 minutes to find the battle.

How dare you call Mirror's Edge a shooter!

Actually those weren't lens flares. They're just dynamic lights mixed with their cinematic post-processing. It's amazing what lighting can do for a game, and it's amazing to see what we've been missing (since dynamic lights are almost non existent in 95% of games).

From what I'm reading, the open beta is open to everyone. 48 hour early access is open to those with an Origin pre-order (and you also get Dead Space 2 for free until Sept. 19) or those who have Medal of Honor LE.
