I’m in the “Super Metroid is essentially perfect” camp, which probably leaked into my review. I don’t know what I’d actually change to make it “more” Metroid, because it is, by default, I pull my definition of Metroid from.

The leak about it being an XCOM ripoff was the first thing that made me think more positively about the concept. Because okay, a crossover between those two sounds awful...but it’s such a weird idea, that it had to be really good. It’s too damn weird to not be.

I mentioned this elsewhere on the thread, but my 3DS is chock full of the standard nintendo fare. Without looking, I have Kirby Triple Deluxe, Mario 3D Land, Ocarina, Majora, Link Between Worlds, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Smash Bros, Dark Mansion 2, and a handful of the classics as well as some stupid

Well, in the US it’s a game for all us fellas who try to do what those ladies tell us.

I don’t have much to add, I’m just commenting to push this upward.

Wow, nicely said and thanks for reminding me of this theme of Quiet, because I’m working on a historical treatise of games that use outside media to expand the narrative (basically, doing what Metroid Prime did, but through manuals, included novellas, and included items that tell stories “beyond the code”). I should

I’d also argue that Metroid’s tendency for frequent low-intensity battles contributes to this sense of quiet. I know that sounds contradictory, but the way each small battle whittles away your energy creates a natural ebb and flow between pausing to forage for energy at pipes and exploration. Metroid doesn’t have

This pushing of the classic consoles has really gotten me worried that we won’t be getting a virtual console on the Switch, which would be an absolute travesty in my opinion. I’m still holding out hope that we get Game Cube games on the Switch, but idk.

The team behind AM2R does not care. They were fully aware that they were in a legal grey area (as fan games are) and fully support Samus Returns.

Still strongly suspect it was about licensing issues with the NES Classic. They severely underestimated demand, and might have been stuck with time/unit limitations they could not easily get around (it includes big name franchises like Final Fantasy and Mega Man, Square in particular make good money selling the FF

Despair seems like too strong a word. More like exasperation. I’m just done trying to get a hold of things Nintendo doesn’t want to make enough of. I’ve been doing it for years. They’ve been doing this for years. There’s no reason to think that I’ll be able to get my hands on one any time soon, if ever.

Oh hey this is coming out this week. Totally forgot.

I get that pre-orders sold out immediately thanks to bots and notification alerts that scoured the internet clean, but I don’t know why people immediately jumped to despair that a product still weeks from being on shelves sold out pre-orders online.

I would KILL to be from Saskasplatoon, Switchskatchewan.

Qu’Appelle was never the same after they fired Steve le’Jobs.

Which is ironic because I can’t think of anything else to do in Saskatchewan, apart from sitting around playing video games. I guess you could go chaff some wheat or go for a long boring bike ride.

I could buy like, six Switches now if I wanted to, the local Wal Mart is always really well stocked. Maybe that should be my province’s tourism campaign. Saskatchewan: Get a Switch here.

I’ve heard it’s notably better than AM2R. And Nintendo had been working on this for years before that was even released, so why wouldn’t they “respond” to that? It’s not rewarding anything but a dedicated development team working just as if not harder on a remake than a fan did.

I’m debating whether or not to get this. I played the original Game Boy version a lot. So much that when I picked it up again a few years ago, I still remembered most of it. I used to spend hours using the Spider Ball and Space Jump to explore everywhere. And I still remember the moment when I learned that if you went

You can also get a $10 gift card for preordering certain games (ie Destiny 2). That essentially makes a new $60 game $38 before tax.
