I’m an archivist in my professional life, and contribute my editing talents to Unseen64's print editions in my spare time, so preservation is near and dear to my heart. Preserving books is tough, preserving film and audio is tougher, and preserving games is even more challenging. Mercifully, it’s a little easier than

Random question, but do you know where I can reliably find Ohtani? I think I have a request from the fox pertaining to her (has to do with a diet) and I can’t find her anywhere!

Aldritch is a very cool boss, aesthetically and mechanically. You might not get a good look during the fight, but I’d encourage looking up images afterwards to get the full effect.

Hey, I recall you being quite the booster of 2017's Everything. I finally played it last weekend (having bought it during a Steam sale based on your praise) and I was floored by how good it was. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s like poetry in motion. I was transfixed!

Oh my goodness, my wife is into K-dramas and we just watched one a little while ago called Prosecutor Princess, and it might have been the single most body-shaming piece of entertainment I’ve ever seen. Ohtani feels comparatively restrained. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Anyway, this is an odd blind-spot for Atlus in Persona 4, but

This weekend I’ll primarily be playing Persona 4 Golden. I just got the ability to visit the city, it seems, and participated in a delightfully weird little pickup line sidequest (that ended with some unfortunate body shaming, womp womp).

I never would have thought I’d be interested in a God of War game, but here we are. This review is fantastic, and speaks to my main concerns with the series (its cynical, unpleasant tone, its predilection for gratuitous violence, and particularly its treatment of women). If I ever end up with a PS4, I’ll be looking

The FPS elements alone would be enough to deter me, but I’ll give it to Ubisoft that they try to say something compelling with some of the series entries. FC2, in particular, has attracted praise from numerous critics for having a message. That said, I disagree so fundamentally with what the games have to say that

I’ve never played it, but I hear they improved it dramatically since launch. Literally nothing about it sounded appealing to me, and I say that as a long-time fan (albeit casual fan) of the series. At least FFXIV is quite good!

Ugh, yes. FFXV tried to pull this nonsense, and it’s a terrible way to develop creative products. Your audience should not need to explore complex backstory in disparate forms of media for your narrative to be compelling.

I detest the Far Cry series’ relentless nihilism, and it sounds like the ending of FC5 takes the cake. What a wretched game series.

That’s fantastic! Thanks for mentioning it, as I never would have known. Reminds me of Olaf’s meta gag earlier in the season about trying TV once for 9 years and it not really panning out.

Ah OK - I catch her there occasionally but it seems quite inconsistent. Thank you for reassuring me that she’s not hanging around somewhere else with me missing her!

Ack! What was the one that let you shoot through walls? That’s the one I meant. This is what I get for not playing Perfect Dark in almost 20 years.

I’ll be there!

I’m excited to hear your take on DS3, as it’s my favorite game in the series (though nothing tops the original DS’ world design). I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, and I think I made it through the game without realizing that skeleton-control thing.

I’m intrigued. I never played Spyro in the 1990s despite owning a PSX (my 3D platformer affection had been covered by the N64) so they would be new to me. My wife also liked them, so she is pretty interested in the new collection. If it comes to Switch and has decent performance, I’ll pick it up.

That coast region is too cool.

I finished Yoshi’s Island on the SNES Classic. What a hoot! The final boss, in particular, was a high point. This game is the perfect length, too. It falls slightly short of its immediate predecessor in my opinion, but that’s a ridiculously high standard to hold it to. I’m glad that Woolly World put this series back

Why doesn’t every game have a Farsight?
