It’s only because German drivers have actual lane discipline that this speed run is able to occur in the first place.  If this happened on Interstate 10, the Chiron would have hit someone doing 50mph in the left lane.

This is obviously staged and extremely dangerous because that plane could have landed on somebody and killed them or started a wildfire.  He needs to be charged and his pilot’s license yanked for life.

The “warnings” are harmless and won’t hurt the car business, but are completely unnecessary and stupid.

It’s hard to watch old car chases because nearly all of them suck.  We are so conditioned to special effects and blinding speed with modern chases.

Smokey and the Bandit 3 is much, much worse.  Cannonball Run doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is.

It’s worth it just for Connery’s facial expressions :)
