That was not intentional bump. That was accidental, messy bump. That was a mump.

It didn’t play well on TV, that’s for sure. There is something about the kind of easy glamour women have in the summer, coming in from the beach and going out to dinner after a quick change of clothes, throwing their hair up and heading out the door. This wasn’t it!
You are correct. I have a cosmetology license. We didn’t get black clients at my school, so we didn’t get practice with all types of hair. I worked with a white guy who went to a beauty school where there were tons of black clients, and there was nothing he couldn’t do.
To my great shame, I once did a similar thing. I’m Latina and had zero experience with black hair. It was picture day, and one of my African-Anerican students had some fly-away hair. I wet my finger tips and tried to smooth them down and watched in horror as her hair reacted to the moisture and curled up. Yeah.
To be (sorta) fair....doing black hair in under 60 seconds is tough.
TRUTH. My favorite are women’s magazines that promise “8 great summer hairstyles!” All of which are straight hair or telling straight haired people how to get “beach waves.” Why do curly haired people not register with any of these people?
Ive got curly white girl hair and DIED when she was torturing the Black model. Who makes hair FRIZZIER and says that it is better?! Who puts (cute!) hair that short in a (bad) pony?
The 90s were awful for this. There were about three girls and me in my high school class who kept their hair curly in a sea of stick straight hair. I never saw anything in fashion magazines geared toward curly hair styles.
True Story:
I don’t think anyone here is seriously calling her actions malicious, just painfully ignorant.
And herself. She literally put two of them in ponytails and just greased up her own hair. Wtf. Why would you even get someone who isn’t a hairdresser to come on your show and do hairstyles in the first place!?
The first woman’s definitely was and like, I know hair doesn’t have nerve endings but I swear my follicles shrieked with empathy. The whole segment was bizarre.
What she did with her own hair didn’t inspire confidence either. They would have done better asking each of the models what their 60 second look was.
Not a single one of these looked remotely good. I did my bun one handed whilst cooking dinner and then took the dog for a walk in a windstorm - still looks better than any of these!
I cannot deal with this its disrespectful and why put this woman in the situation where you leave her looking ridiculous. If you don’t know how to do black hair learn before trying to do a on the fly look...like damn stuff like this pisses us off!
Oof, yeah that looked really painful. Watching this, I felt like even the Asian and white models were grimacing in pain. Also, wasn’t the Asian lady’s adn the white lady’s hair WET when she was trying (and failed) to pull it into a pony? OUCH.
What the fuck? I felt sympathy pains to my scalp the way she was fucking TEARING up her ponytail hair.
My mom and I had this shitshow on in the background the other day. We both stopped mid conversation to stare in horror.
In all fairness all of the styles were awful and left the models looking worse after than before.
You didn’t even need to wait for the Black woman to know where this was going. Girl couldn't even put the Asian hair in a smooth pony tail.
