As portrayed in the original show, Johnny Soprano loved his son but was oblivious to how his actions affected Tony. I can think of two examples off the top of my head:
He was REALLY good as Johnny Boy on the original series. And then he played Fred Goldman on American Crime Story.
I read somewhere that he introduces young Tony by saying “That’s Tony Soprano. A few decades later, he strangled me to death.” I hope that’s not actually the case, especially since Tony didn’t strangle Christopher (rather, Tony held a seriously-wounded Christopher’s mouth and nose shut until Christopher died of…
Someone once said that the big difference between GoodFellas and The Godfather is that the Godfather films (particularly the first one) have no innocent victims. You get absolutely no sense of the mundane extortion (i.e. “I won’t hurt you as long as you give me money”) that is the Mafia’s lifeblood. There’s a hint of…
FWIW, my wife and I saw them in late 2018. Neil Finn (who had changed his singing style to closely match Lindsay) and Mike Campbell more than adequately replaced Lindsay; Stevie and Neil’s duet on “Don’t Dream It’s Over” was pretty kickass, as was her rearranging the lyrics on “Black Magic Woman” to first-person…
Yeah, it sounds like she quit and when Mick or whoever asked what they could do to get her to stay, replied with “I’ll only come back if Lindsay’s gone.”
What’s the proper term for those of us who just live our lives the best way we see fit? I would think “Sigma” would be the closest to that. I have co-workers who think of themselves as the “Alpha Males” of the office. I usually let them go on their way with that belief, simply because I don’t really care. I’m just…
FWIW, I bought a GRIP6 belt a year or two ago (narrow black with a narrow black buckle) for my suits because I needed a belt and the Facebook ad was absolutely hilarious. Not much to say (it’s a freaking belt), but it definitely does its job. I know that a canvas belt isn’t technically what you should be wearing with…
I loved SR3, thought SR4 was “meh” at best, and liked Gat Out of Hell. I’ve played some of SR2 but never finished it. Agents of Mayhem was OK at first but got waaaaaay too repetitive.
Someone coined the word “slacktivism” for this kind of demonstration. See also Earth Hour (where a bunch of people turn off their lights for an hour) or all those Facebook come-ons to “Post this to remind everyone to beat cancer” or whatever.
Thank you for the review. I don’t consider myself a shrinking violet in terms of gameplay (I’ll happily mow people down in SRIII or GTA V or whatever for hours at a time), but I have to wonder who the studio was aiming this kind of game at.
The sudden fetishization of a thoroughly outmoded sound reproduction technology (vinyl records) boggles the mind, especially when nouveau vinyl fans insist that “anyone can hear the difference” and you’re just a deaf, ignorant idiot if you disagree.
The one I hated was an early mission with Ryder where you’re ripping off a warehouse. Ryder is ostensibly protecting you but is a terrible shot and made of glass to boot. You fail if he dies, so you’re constantly hopping on a forklift (with TERRIBLE controls) to move boxes around, then hopping off so you can kill the…
My favorite phrase was when you dropped a bomb (accidentally or otherwise) on England: “That was the WRONG tarrrrget!”
This is exactly why I’ve never signed up for Game Pass. I don’t play a huge variety of games, but the ones I DO play, I tend to run into the ground. I’d rather buy a game and know I’ll have it forever than spend $15/month on Game Pass and have them yank games whenever they feel like it.
I’m not sure how to feel about this. I LOVED Frasier, but what I loved about it was the interplay between Frasier, Niles, Martin and the rest. The closest comparison I can think of is I Love Lucy vs The Lucy Show (and Here’s Lucy afterwards). What made I Love Lucy special was the interplay between Lucy and Ricky. With…
One thing I really appreciate in ESO and they should have done here: In ESO, when you finish a big long dungeon sequence, a portal/shortcut/whatever opens to take you right back to the beginning of the area. Fallen Order makes you backtrack allllll the waaaaaay manually.
People generally don’t use CBD to “get high,” but rather to relieve pain and/or anxiety (personally, I use a 1:1 CBD/CBG tincture as a sleep aid). Just make sure you get it from a reputable source. The Reddit CBD group has a sticky post listing reliable, ethical sellers.
You’re forgetting one of the best bonuses of Spotify Student: For the $5/month, you also get Showtime (and the base end ad-supported Hulu) for no extra charge.
Removing ads from videos is worth the $7.99 (or whatever) monthly Student fee for Premium.
