The author was referring to Sony (the distributor) not Lightning Game Studios (the developer). It would be ridiculous to expect or suggest that an indie (read: small) company have any formal departments. After all, their version of QA is probably nothing more than extremely informal unit testing.

It’s directly relevant as the discussion is about immaturity of processes within the video games industry... which is resolved by having a department such as Quality Management. Hence, the video game industry needs to adopt best practices from other software industries.

How many of them are CMMI or ISO certified? Probably none. Why? Because the importance of video games (as a product, not a career) is negligible. Hence things like this happen in the industry (unlike IT services and software).
