While a pair of properly maintained Allen Edmonds should last a lifetime, not everyone is able to make such an initial investment or is willing/knowledgeable enough to properly maintain their shoes. Likewise, a pair of properly maintained Rockports should last a couple of decades at least.

Are you seriously comparing Rockport to Allen Edmonds? For their price, Rockports are high quality.

RAID 0 provides no redundancy at all and increases the probability of failure for the sake of performance... Your anecdote is a perfect example of my point: having few non-redundant drives is more reliable than many non-redundant drives. O_o

Hardware definitely fails but increasing the number of drives makes failure more likely. The point of something like RAID 10 is specifically to handle drive failure. Simply spreading data across multiple drives compartmentalizes data loss whereas redundantly storing data across multiple drives actually makes data loss

That’s totally unrelated to the difference between HDD and SSD. If drive failure is the concern, RAID and regular backups are the solution. Adding another drive (in a non-RAID configuration) actually increases the likelihood of failure as both drives would be necessary for the system to function properly.

fixed

What’s so hard to understand that there’s no practical difference between running two SSDs and one SSD with two partitions?

lol a $6800 pc but only has a 250 gig SSD. i think he got his piority wrong.

If you try to do something, and you do not succeed in doing it, you have failed at that task.

That gets me thinking that a drone system would be really cool for getting footage of track days.

Yes, they have given up after three total failures, which is vastly different than suggesting they are responsible for the regional failure of their platforms.

Are you kidding? Microsoft has been desperately trying to break into the Japanese market but the Japanese simply don’t want an XBOX.

Yes... things like Waze exist but that doesn’t negate the merits of such a drone-based system. It would have fewer dependencies and provide totally reliable data. O_o

As little as possible, yes, but I meant “gadgets” like animated/interactive maps and movies. “Gadgets” like gauges that contribute to the immediate operation of the vehicle are checked quickly and periodically, which is practically different. I’m not saying these kinds of laws are effective or right but they are at

Yea, those multifunction head units are included. I mean, it does make a bit of sense; a driver should be watching the road and their surroundings not gadgets.

Yup; the law (depending on the state, of course) prohibits viewing any display like dedicated GPS units or multifunction head unit while driving. Even having such a display facing the driver (as opposed to facing down the middle or towards the passenger) is illegal. Thankfully it isn’t strictly enforced!

Or, you can just get out your smartphone, and access one of the ever widening traffic cam networks available on the internet. Better yet, just use a mapping program with real-time telemetry from participating vehicles.

Cloud does look like an idiot though...

Don’t use either. Get a better mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Reds or Browns and put dampeners on the caps.
