The interstates in Michigan are fine. Side roads not so much, but you won’t be doing 60 in those.

That depends on the car actually. My corolla with the CVT gets the best fuel economy at around 65-70mph because it’s still under 2k rpms doing that speed. Higher speed limits would also encourage manufacturers to adapt gearing for higher speeds.

It’s perfect for long straight highways with no hills such as that one in Texas. Of course I wouldn’t do 85 constantly on an older car or a small subcompact, but my corolla is plenty comfortable at 90 or more and still gets 35mpg doing that.

It does bring the confidence that the owner probably didn’t tinker with the electronics too much.
