Mortal Kombat 2 was the first sequel that blew my mind. I have vivid memories of just stumbling upon the cabinet at the mall as a kid after playing the first one religiously on Sega Genesis and not even knowing a sequel had released. I couldn’t believe the graphical update and added depth.

That’s an easy one for me: Mega Man II. It’s my all time favorite. Some people prefer III, and I get it, but II just hits the spot for me.

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun.

The first sequel that really blew me away was Monkey Island 2.
The Secret of Monkey Island was great, but this one was something else. Beautiful art, dynamic music cues, hilarious cartoony situations. And as nuts as that ending was, I totally loved it.
