I agree that the reaction is overblown* but do find it remarkable that the richest company in the world - one that prides itself on being a progressive and free-spirited soul - didn't predict this outcome. Especially after they wisely began using "3D Touch" instead of "Force Touch."
If it helps quell any of the frustration, I'd like to add that some people might have legitimate reasons for requesting a transcript, such as being deaf or wanting to frame these delightful exchanges and hang above the mantle, toilet, or whichever fixture one reserves for their objects of reverence.
