“I am so disgusted that you all would be drawn to the numerous nude scenes in my NC-17 rated movie, available wide on Netflix September 28th.”
“In the semi-final round, Hardy spared martial arts veteran Danny Appleby”
Stone-cold take: Craig was a great Bond and Casino Royale is a top 3 Bond movie for me, but man did those films confuse “serious” with “dour.” I don’t need Roger Moore dressed as a clown, but No Time to Die really laid on the “sad Bond” pretty thick. Guys, Community came out 25 years ago now, Mad Men was 30. We need to move on. It’s just like how they drag out Star wars over and over, even though there hasn’t been a good one for 60 years. Make some new IPs for the young people already.
Many said it was racist, problematic, inaccurate, insulting, fascist, ableist to name a few “boos”. And also there was a call for boycott.
Yeah, this is one of those where sure, on the one hand, the criticism is accurate, and on the other hand, it also applies to almost every historical drama ever made.
I am loathe to defend someone for using the word “edutainment”, but the fact is movies have been distorting and exaggerating history since the birth of the medium. Buzzwords aside, I think Davis and Tennon seem pretty knowledgable about the real story and aware of the limits of of big budget studio filmmaking. The…
I think it’s a rule somewhere that in every single thread mentioning Avatar 1) someone has to say it’s forgettable and 2) someone has to say “unobtanium? REALLY?”
