Right, part of being "civilized" is acknowledging that other people exist, have bodily autonomy and will do things that might momentarily inconvenience you. Plane travel is full of such close encounters, and if you are the type of person who thinks that another traveler slightly reclining their seat is akin to being

No, because you're deeply unpleasant and disingenuous. :)

You're the only one talking about bootstraps.

Uhh, no. People generally point out that Kristen Stewart makes one facial expression ('emotion' is the term I used, because I am critiquing her limited acting abilities), which is the same criticism that people have used against Keanu Reeves (his confused look, her distant dead-eyed one). Clooney is consistently

Who cares? If people want to recline on the plane, people get to recline on the plane. I'm pretty surprised there are people here saying that one of the main functions and few comfortable aspects of plane travel should be verboten because of some unknown reason. You can recline your seat, too, you know.

*gags*

Keanu Reeves comes to mind. George Clooney, too.

I can think of three or four off of the top of my head.

I hear his grandson Little is really annoying.

*round of applause*

No, just acknowledging what a terrible actress she is. Not women-specific.

I think of French Stewart every single time, no matter what. It doesn't help that I don't know who French Montana is.

Apparently she's an absolute nightmare to work with. Very unprofessional and little work ethic.

Noooo, Agent Cooper!!

Interesting, thanks!

Thanks for weighing in! Of course it's most likely that the majority of us, even if talented at language, will only reach near-native status, and I assume I will never surpass that. I was simply trying to say to the poster that there ARE people who can speak very well and have excellent accents, and then there are

I don't know, if you could provide some research that would be great. But from what I know from teaching and the supposed "research", a lot of it is guess-work and hoping (Cf. the communicative method). But I would say you can absolutely speak just about stellar when learning a language past puberty. Maybe not 100%

Idk I think it's all fabulous!

No, that's not true (I know plenty of academics with immaculate French accents, and—braggart alert—I include myself in this category), but for as many great French-accented speakers out there, there are just as many who can't master the accent but write/speak/read at a highly proficient or bilingual level. I don't

I hope so too. I just hope it all works for her.
