You pay based on time and distance covered. Say you pay $1 per .2 of a mile and your journey should be 4 miles you’d pay $20. If your driver decides to take you an extra mile on the journey then you pay $25.

If you’d read the article instead of cherry picking, you’d see that the 5% isn’t spread evenly across all the rides, but rather is from “a few bad actors” who literally take women for a ride, up to five times as long. Wow! 500%! That’s a lot!

I have reported drivers for going off GPS and costing me more $$ and Uber ALWAYS refunds me the amount the driver fucked up.

Even assuming your argument, “gullibility, mental illness, histories of abuse, etc.” is something those parents should be permitted to raise as a defense in their criminal trials, but it’s not, under any circumstances, some kind of a “pass” to prostitute your children.

Some of them probably should be, but some of them were probably gullible enough to think nothing would happen. Cult leaders are master con men, preying on people with mental illness, histories of abuse, etc. People with untreated or unacknowledged anxiety disorders or PTSD are prime targets.

I can never wrap my head around how it is the parents in cults like this can justify - in their own minds - giving their children away.
