“You don’t need money, you’re getting paid in exposure!” isn’t the fair deal it's claimed to be.
I know a bunch of Marvel/DC artists and writers who barely get by. Can’t pay your mortgage with other people’s happiness.
‘Acknowledging you’re working in an exploitative system bars you from every having thoughts on the working of that system’ is a hell of a take.
The whole "work for hire" yet rampant exploitation of creatives in comics has been a huge discussion for decades, so, y'know, it's not as simple as you'd like insomuch as calling it "pointless."
it’s almost like that’s what ‘mixed feelings’ means.
The problem is that it’s rare there is any other deal, there are a lot of people who will gladly write/draw for Marvel, DC, Wizards of the Coast, etc. so the corporations hold all the cards. It doesn’t help that fewer and fewer artists have leverage these days to negotiate any kind of back end payment deal.
He isn’t saying that he created Bucky.
Will Avengers fold before Spider-Man comes out?
The problem is he is absolutely 100% silly looking
The new movie is a remake of Falling Down starring the cabbage merchant. He’s finally had enough.
I wonder what made Nickelodeon do a total 180 on this. When Korra was airing, they did everything they could to bury it.
The prequels at least had some great designs in ships, costumes and settings like the city of Theed and the palace on Naboo, our first look at Coruscant, Mustafar, Utapau, etc. That universe actually felt lived in.
I can never watch the throne room scene where Kylo tells Rey “you’re nothing, you come from nowhere” without my hair standing on end. Partly it’s the execution and partly the sheer audacity of that revelation, that Johnson was brave enough to attempt this twist in a franchise known for its genealogical surprises.
There was the lightsaber battle where Kylo and Rei mop up the floor with all of Snokes’ guards; there was Luke Force Projection keeping Kylo and the Entire Fucking First Order occupied while the remnants of the New Republic made their escape (and Mark Hamill’s offhanded contempt for all of it was perfect); Holdo’s…
Strongly disagree. There were several wow moments about the sequel trilogy, most especially in TLJ.
I fully agree. I get what Lucas is trying to do. A space Oprah version of Charles Foster Kanes story, mixed with a political backdrop about the rise of space nazis, made in the same era as the Bush administration. I really get it. But the man cannot write to save his life, its so painfully clear that the real…
I’ve said it before and it’s been said by others but The Prequels were a good story told terribly and The Sequels on the whole (I quite liked The Last Jedi.) were a bad story told really well.
There has been this sort of... life through rose tinted glasses look at the Prequels lately. Partially because of nostalgia. Partially because the new movies were somewhat disappointing. Likely because of all those damn memes. I’m sorry, no amount of time has made these movies any better. Revenge of the Sith has a few…
