I think part of the issue with unresponsive controls is that the attack and defend button are meant to be held down. It's basically auto attack. I don't like it either.

11 is easily the “truest” final fantasy since FF1. As a 14 year veteran of XI, I honestly defend it as one of the best worlds, story’s, and lore out of any of the 13 other final fantasy games.
