I had no idea, that as a rock artist, you had to have a death metal phase, in order to being a legitimate rocker. I guess that disqualifies about 99% of all rock musicians. Costello is rock, mixed with all sorts of musical styles that you’ve mentioned, including some pop elements, not the other way around.
