I think the show peaked with the Maeby episode, bringing all the stories together, joining all the dots, and then was so disappointed by the final episode. Just unfunny and…punishing? It felt unnecessary.

Eileen's speech in "The Ghost is Seen" is so great. Although all of Tyler's monologues in that episode are brilliant, it's so heartbreaking to see Eileen, someone who has obviously had her share of lost loves, try to connect with someone, on an emotional level, not some fluffy TV bullshit speech, but just a yearning…
Nah, I was just kidding. It's great to see someone so passionate about a show this great.
I don't think I've ever seen such a great use of voice-over on a TV show. Amy preaches all these lessons she thinks she's learned but is so far away from achieving. But at least she tries. For all her naivete, she wanted to be good - "my intentions are so good".
The dialogue is fucking phenomenal on this show, but I really love how effectively the silences are played. Amy and Levi just standing in the street in "All I Ever Wanted" as she reads his letter is so perfectly done (Dern is so heartbreaking as she tries to make sense of it all) or in the same episode when Helen…
Such a magnificent episode, so melancholic and heartbreaking, but still so beautiful.
Line of the Year: "Why didn't I try?" - Tyler in "Enlightened" realising too late that he could have experienced love and companionship his whole life, but didn't.
"avoid being too obvious and spark debate"
It's weird…it's like you're the opposite of vickisamonster.
In all honesty, I think those are three of best episodes of television that I've ever seen. It's not about Amy, it's about completely getting into the head space of these characters and delving deep into their lives and what makes them tick. Those episodes are brilliant because they break away from the status quo.
There's nothing better than a surprise Lemon party!
It's #1 in my pants
I think season 4 is probably one of my least favourite. So much of the start of the season felt like filler, like the show was searching for a direction to go in before it could get to the showdown between Gus and Walt (ie. the firework factory).
Typical howard!
I am a huge Marie Antoinette fan, and I think what I love about it is its energy. It's so manic and bonkers for a filmmaker that generally says much more during the silences. And also, it's pretty. It looks so grand and lush and yet delicate, and has a kickass soundtrack.
Do Coppolas dream of falling apples?
Although I think Virgin Suicides is great, I utterly adore Lost in Translation. It's just a movie that completely clicks for me. I am so captivated every time that I see it, always discovering and rediscovering the subtle glances and tender moments.
Sofia Coppola. Apple, tree. Apple fall.
BELLE & SEBASTIAN ARE WHITE?!?!
I love how the show doesn't shy away from what it means to be a woman, regardless of the time period. Peggy may just be one of my favourite television characters ever, precisely because of the fact that she's a woman. They don't try to give her gender neutral problems or have her shy away from her feminine side - she…
