Before Venom made nearly a billion i would have said the same. That said Tom Hardy playing Venom is a much easier sell than Jared Leto playing a 3rd string Spidey villain a bloodless PG-13 vampire movie.

What do you expect from the man who made the Hangover 3 a thriller rather than a comedy?
yet one that hasn’t failed to make anyone i know laugh from small child, to adult to hardened comics nerd ;)
I get you man, but that movie sounds 40 minutes longer and it was not a short movie to start with. Perhaps this level of subtlety and finer plot detail would be best left for TV where you can explore it more; otherwise you are doing Civil War movie parts 1 and 2 for sure.
Tim Burtons early films are really beginning to look like a fluke. He really need to go back to low budget to find his mojo...IMO.
He really took the “be excellent to each other” credos to heart didn’t he?
Funnily enough i watched this yesterday whilst looking after an ill toddler. Still maybe, just maybe Marvels best movie. It has stakes, good arcs, great action, good writing and its hella fun.
I agree but i think thats part of his natural evolution and a very delibrate choice. Cap 1 and Avengers Steve is a army captain from WW” or fresh outta the ice, in Winter Soldier hes been out for a few years and its natural he would have learned the new skills like Krav Magra. Its what makes that first scene on the…
Because if its a remake of a Sherlock Holmes book or Pride and Predjudice (for 50th time) that’s OK because that’s ‘proper’ literature... and the many people who secretly loath genre material (but who more often than not, never took the time to read it) don’t feel the need to use the pejorative reboot term to desrcibe…
Venom is a 2 star movie with an interesting performance from Hardy being the only thing of note. However i still take your point :)
This^
The drop-off between TFA and TLJ could be mostly explained by the event movie nature of the former, i. the first true proper Star Wars movie in years.
As i like your site and appreciate its more a British thing, i will forgive you not mentioning her incredible turn as Queenie in Blackadder; still the best version ever of Elizabeth 2nd.
And shows how unflinchingly polite Steve is. What a nice boy
Great trailer and hats off for basically showing almost none of the 2nd or 3rd act
Lets have Doom in next phase of MCU rather than some Fox attempt at making him an anti-hero ala Malefecent please. A good actor in that role and he could be just the villain MVP they need for next phase.
So they going to make Cruella De’Ville, a character who skins animals for fun kinda not evil? Like how they bent over backwards to make Malefecent not evil when its clearly way more fun when she is? (Jolie is great and v well cast but that movie is just ....sigh; bad in so so many ways)
I’m wondering where this apparent ‘run’ people elude to came from too. DC movies have thus far ranged from decent WW (great leads but honestly that it, sorry) to some of the worst efforts in the genre (Suicide Squad)...and i’m including the messy, tonally all over the place, fun but forgettable Aquaman in this.
Much better casting, perhaps now they wont be afraid to make Deadshot at least a little more amoral and unlikable, rather than just a moody sniper who really loves his daughter and doesn’t like killing people.
In which case it would 100% fit the theory that Jamie will finally embrace his Kingslayer name and off her.
