Sure if you've never used a computer before. 

Teams dwarfs Slack because they started offering it free with Office 365, which basically every company has. A lot of companies are switching from Slack to Teams because why pay for something that you basically already have? It's not because it's a better product. 

Teams is the IM to beat for business users. You can argue that’s because they are leveraging their O365 customer base and packaging it (and that is definitely a large reason), but that means a ton of people are using it. However, Teams cannot compete in the consumer space, hence this Discord purchase.

Compared to Slack and Discord, Teams doesn’t stack up at all. Besides, if Teams were a decent contender in the IM/VOIP space, it’d have larger market share and MS wouldn’t be looking to buy a direct competitor.

Please, please don’t. I really hope Discord sticks to their guns on this. Discord was MADE to be an alternative to Skype, SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE Micro$oft ran it into the ground and made it literally unusable. M$ buying them out would just result in another cycle of suffering.

Of course Microsoft wants to buy the competitor that overthrew their traction with Skype. 10 billion is more than enough to live multiple lives. I’ll remain extremely wary of Microsoft trying yet another acquisition in the communications space. Skype went downhill very fast back in the day and Teams is just plain garbage, which makes me afraid of how they'd manage Discord in the medium term to long term.

Considering the mess they made of Skype, I really hope they do not actually go through with this.
