What I like about Verhoeven is that every aspect of his movies gives 110%, despite intent. Robocop and Starship Troopers did with violence exactly what Showgirls did with sex and, because violence in films is allowed to be cartoonish and over the top and sex isn't, it got lambasted.

Concurrent (from wikipedia):

What I got from the Incredibles was a sly dig from Bird at Disney for thinking that owning Pixar would be their ticket to instant artistic brilliance.

These are cybergoths. There are loads of different sub-types of goth cultures, this one is basically rave/trance with a goth theme.

Yeah, I can't stand the Sand Snakes.

Frankie Boyle's bit on American war movies is amazing:

It's a pet hate of mine. If someone has it on it's always because of ignorance, so I dive to disable it when they leave the room, and they usually can't tell. I'm also a secret colour/contrast calibrater and disabler of sharpening and noise reduction.

That's the TV's frame-interpolation technology doing that. Switch it off and Blu-ray looks like cinema.

I, too, dislike Cameron's longer cuts. The extended Abyss is horrible. Aliens lecturing the human race on peace by threatening them with giant waves? Embarrassing. Terminator 2's extended cut is also too obvious.

Neither matters given how most music available for streaming or download is mastered permanently in the red. Everything currently sounds terrible regardless of format.

Try Cyanogenmod. I have an old Nexus S and it was getting a bit useless with age. Switch to CM, and it's as good as new.

It really nails suburbia.

The blue letters spell D-A-D-A-E-L-U-60.

It's actually not cutesy, but it does depict children in a pretty convincing way.

Shadows hide seams.

I love that piece, thank you.

I avert all this by not having any genre tags.

And you're not of the opinion that consciousness is just a way for our brains to operate, and isn't a supernatural state?
