Blu-ray's colour is so good. Obviously resolution is the big selling point, but man, the colour is mouthwatering compared to DVD.

I really enjoyed the negotiation process of deciding which movie you were going to get, and sometimes you would rent more than one to appease the rest of the party. Then, because of the effort required to actually drive/go to the shop, you would make an occasion of watching the film.

In my home town there was an excellent shop that kept their entire back catalogue (including VHS) on display by laminating the covers and having a sort of open filing cabinet for you to browse. The selection was amazing, you could genuinely find nearly any obscure movie you'd read about.

I only saw it at about 13 or so, at the height of my Star Wars obsession, and I thought it was fantastic. I watched it many times throughout my teens because of the sheer beauty of it and its ability to conjure childhood so convincingly.
