You’re right that SimCity abstracts zoning out more than real life. Most residential land in the US is R1 zoning (single family homes), which is the problematic one, and commercial zoning can range from big box stores to office buildings, though I don’t know the zoning codes for those.
Imagine if any of the many oil disasters had had a similar psychological effect on oil energy as Chernobyl did on nuclear, yet no one seems to care about that.
How DID Capitalism handle climate change though?
Amusingly enough, there are plenty of people on the Right that seem to think ‘Everything I don’t like is communism’, and on the list of frequently recurring items is ‘environmentalism/environmental regulation.’ Black Lives Matter? Communism. Gay people? Also communism.
This is the second example I’ve heard of SimCity promoting harmful public policy. The other is Euclidean zoning (named for the town of Euclid, not the mathematician), which forces areas to separate into single family residential, dense apartment residential, and business. In most of America, outside of city centers,…
The real tragedy of Chernobyl is that nuclear power should be one of the most powerful weapons against climate change, but one meltdown in an outdated power plant turned people against nuclear plants forever. The psychological effects of the disaster will kill far more people than the disaster itself did.
Depends on whether the Switch is part of the same generation.
Part of it is just that game developers have learned over time as they’ve refined their practices in making live games to build in LiveOps features into games that let them disable characters/features/equipment etc from server-side when issues arise.
Not to defend Netflix here but Cavill is an in demand actor. He probably does have some stuff lined up that gave him leverage and you can’t just put the show on hold to fit his schedule. That’s unfair to the other actors, cast, and crew that would like to go work other gigs and maybe can’t take something because they…
Cavill’s rate has dramatically increased since he was first signed. And, it looks like he’s wanting to focus on movies, rather than the grind of a series.
There’s nothing more pathetic than some incel simping for Musk. Seek help.
It has though.... you look through ANY ad from the 90's-2000's and gaming prices were $59-$69. That’s why most kids only had 3-4 games an entire console generation. You got the game that came with the console and played the shit out of it.
Just turned 41 last Saturday. When I was 12 I got maybe 2 games a year and if they sucked, oh well, maybe you’ll get something better next year. My nephew is 15 and he’ll never have enough time to play all the games that are available to him. So many decent free games and really good games for $5-10 out there. Whining…
It’s four characters who run through a map, killing waves of enemies along the way to get the next checkpoint
The price of video games, adjusted for inflation, has never been cheaper.
I miss the days of playing a game for fun, and not for unlocking stupid cosmetics.
You could, I don’t know...play the game because it’s fun?
Whatever dude.
