Yeah, I think you’re right. My guess is it would have punched through both a canopy and his helmet shield at the speed he was going.

The right front upper A-arm went through his helmet visor and into his head. I guess the theory is that a dome could have deflected it. However, at nearly 200mph, it’s hard to say what would have occurred. I’m sure a computer sim could provide an estimate.
