They aren’t banning them because someone is butthurt. They are banning them because they are a significant source of pollution. Are other things causing more pollution that would be more effective to change/ban? Yes, and they probably should be prioritized over cars, but that’s not the point. The government absolutely

This appears to be from a few years ago, likely sometime in 2014.

“Turbo race cars are too quiet.”

That OJ line has me crying laughing at my desk. I tip my hat to you good sir.

They do this every few years. Once basically everything is getting 5 stars they invent some crazy test the companies have never seen before so everyone fails and the test becomes relevant again. I’m all for improving safety but most of the time these changes are just to make the test relevant and doesn’t actually

The S80 made me giggle like school girl.

I think it’s mostly complaints about the behavior but I’m pretty sure failure rates are up as well.

I’ve driven a GT500 and I have to agree it’s pretty nuts. That is a car you need to be CAREFUL in to avoid burnouts, crashing and dying, or going like 40 over the speed limit.

Yeah but let’s say you have A 30 mile (~50km) commute. At 100 km per day you’re putting over 200 grams into the atmosphere which is almost half a pound. Half a pound of poisonous gas per day sounds a lot more substantial than 2.06 grams per kilometer, but if you have a long-ish commute they’re the same thing.

Porsche and Lamborghini should be protected. Luxury brands are where VW makes its money. Porsche regularly has some of the highest margins in the industry and won’t be as badly impacted by the diesel scandal. VW needs them now more than ever.

Yeah I eventually found one reasonable person. I guess I should have expected the crazies listing a car on craigslist in Detroit haha.

Doug, excellent article, but please stop making me look like a crazy person laughing in my cube.

They have already put a Powershift in a performance focus. It is a completed different type of transmission from the one causing problems in the base model.

The van drifting through the gravel at 5:05 in the first video is my spirit animal.

I too have feelings. I think those feelings are that I find it offensively ugly, but I’m not sure, it may be brilliant, definitely nothing in between.

God after seeing that top image all I can think is how cheap that steering wheel looks. I really hope they find something nicer to make it its own brand.
