Fair enough - I didn't realize you lived in Nome, Alaska or Upper Siberia. I don't think I'd ever want to move anywhere that snowed 18" in a night and had no plow trucks.

Well said - RWD and the capable underpinnings (the 3 series) is what makes it a superior driving experience to the CX-5 or Escape. I always ponder though, how much better would be with the N55 turbo, S-Drive, and a proper manual transmission?
I can't be sure, but I think one could give up premium (leather, etc) and "X-Style" (the Y spoke wheels and stainless looking trim), gain x-Drive and still keep it at $30K. I think those stripped out base models get used as dealer loaners often; I'm sure in Buffalo or Minneapolis they use base model x-drives - which…
Repeat after me : "SNOW TIRES". Back in the 90's, I drove a black on black 1979 Corvette with a lopey ZZ4 crate motor, five speed Nash-Hurst, and side pipes through several winters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Overseas Military Sales.
I simply don't understand why anyone would want AWD. It's added weight, complexity, hurts gas mileage, and will break with awful ($$$) consequences.
The CVT is atrocious.
Why no X1? It's clearly a compact crossover, and the base model (turbocharged four cylinder) can be had for under $30K. You can actually buy it with RWD (meaning, actually FUN) - although it's regretful that it's not offered with BMW's sublime manual transmission, despite sharing a frame and drivelines with the…
Working stick shift coupe for under $2000? NP all day long.
THIS.
No - that's illegal.
Fair enough. I'd submit that you are comparing apples to oranges though. The closest thing to a front wheel drive version of your Camaro would be a similar year (and similarly modified) Solara or Accord Coupe, I guess? The closest thing to a RWD GTI would be a BMW 228i (maybe?). I would submit that a stock M-235i…
But you are comparing the NEW prices, not the used prices - and last I looked, it wasn't 2008 anymore. I can buy a pre-LCI 335i M-sport, premium package for several thousand less than what you paid for your TL-S. I sold my Accord (2009 EX-L V6 stick shift coupe) because it was an unreliable fail wheel drive turd and…
As a former F&I manager, if you are so buried in the loan that you need GAP in the first place - you shouldn't be buying the car.
There was a salvage title / fixed up FiST in that color combination that just sold on FleaBay for $14K. I was tempted.
"interior and ride quality that will rival any comparable BMW"' - LOL. Maybe from the 90's...
RWD > FWD, no matter how great the "rest of the car" is.
I'll give you that the Civic Type R seems to definitely be in the right direction, until you can buy a TLX with a stick - I'm not interested.
