I don't think you understand the point. The average Camry buyer is very much NOT a "car person". They want a reliable appliance - and aren't going to "talk shop" with a dealer.

Given the fact that there is so much information out there already on invoices, rebates, and holdback, I can't see how starting off $500 in the hole could possibly help you, but YMMV.

You're still going to have to go into the dealership and deal with "reptiles" - unless Tom is buying the car and bringing to you and having you sign paperwork at home. At which point, Tom becomes the dealer and by your logic - a "reptile". Either way - it makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

So - this is for people who don't care about money? I mean, if they are going to pay you $500 extra - why not just go into the dealership and pay retail price?
