There’s only so many times you can talk about the heat death of the universe before people start getting bored, especially since we don’t know if that’s the outcome in the first place.
I prefer “twenty fifteen” over “two thousand fifteen” because it is one syllable fewer. But most people in the US seems to prefer being long winded about the 21st century.
