Once I encountered 3 motorcycle cops working together. One is in front writing a ticket for a car. Hidden from view by that car, another cop stood by the side of the road stopping cars that are speeding past (this is a local road, 25 mph), so that they will be ticketed by a 3rd cop. There was a line of 5 cars stopped

No, they might screw it up to the point where they will cancel your service. It has happened to me before, called to change something in the service, and they end up cutting off service because someone entered the wrong work order.

But less is good. It doesn’t need to be perfect.

The paint doesn’t look shiny reflective, though the narrator said “is designed to reflect all sunlight and passively radiate heat”.

There’s a number on youtube, like this one :

Kinda-sorta related trivia. I’ve been to 4 Presidential Libraries, each with their own reproduction of the Oval Office. The George H W Bush library is the only one that allow you to sit on the President’s desk and take a photo. The other 3 (Reagan, Johnson, Clinton) don’t even allow you to step on the carpet. Anyone

It’s porn. Someone will enjoy the outcome.

It’s interesting to know that many people do not automatically assume “hydrogen” to mean H2. That is good to know, and teaches me to be more careful and not make too many assumptions. No sarcasm, and not saying who’s right or wrong. Thanks for clarifying.

Affirmative!

Well, it should be obvious that they want to prevent nuclear war so that they can continue abducting humans for anal probes and mutilating cattle. Oh, and making crop circles. Need someone around to plant the crops so that they can make circles.

Clearly they were referring to The Doctor.

Will Shapeway print a STL I upload that I don’t own? Haven’t used Shapeways before. I found another Curiosity model, but it costs $200 :

Fist bump, and don’t call me Shirley.

High cost of pharmaceuticals is due partly to research cost (including lengthy approval process) and partly to capitalism at work. Reducing production cost may help a little. If yeasts can be used to reduce research cost, then it may make a positive impact on the price.

Umbrellas are symmetrical, but we hold them forward due to the design, so the back gets less coverage. Especially when the wind’s blowing from the back. Is there a right way of holding it to keep the back dry? I used to carry my backpack in front to keep it dry but it’s only tolerable for short distances.

I like only about 3 or 4 woot tees a year. Most people don’t pay attention to what’s on the shirt, but every once in a while, someone - even strangers - takes a closer look, gets the joke, and laughs. That’s what makes obscure jokes worth it.

Better than duct tape? What heresy is this? Pick up your pitchforks and join me, comrades!

It sure looks that way, but it is remarkably stable in the wind, and the funky shape keeps my backpack dry.

I have waterproof hiking boots, and my Senz windproof umbrella. Need to clear the gutters. Other than that, just need to pay attention to flooding on freeways and plan for power outages. I was here in 1997, don’t recall it being all that bad. Some neighborhoods distributed sandbags, but my house is on top of a small

Insurance fraud gone wrong - now that’s an interesting idea. Yeah, unlikely.
