That was what I thought too, but if that's the case (looking at the video at the 33 to 34 second mark) I'd say that the satellite is *ahem* toast.

And gibbous moons show the best crater shadows when you have a long lens.

Some points : you do NOT want long exposure for the moon with a long telephoto. And you do not need large aperture when shooting and stopped down lenses are usually sharper. I use f/8 or f/11 and 1/100 sec or faster, ISO 100 to 200 on a 400mm lens with 1.4x extender. I manual focus using the LCD and use mirror lock up.

There's also the fact that low ridership in those hours would mean that cost would go up a lot (personnel overtime, wear and tear on equipment, energy) with hardly any increase in revenue. And the main group to benefit are the homeless.

Does the metal ring in the USB keychain photo bring out the OCD in anyone else? Get it out of the way so that I can get the USB plug back in!

I think you're off by a few billion miles :p What number for speed of light are you using? I think you also forgot to take into account that the 8 years will include 2 leap years, so you need to add 2 more days.

Or you could just have just said "8 light years" :)

"So, if you plan on driving your car for several hundred lightyears while remaining under warranty"

So, after a few iterations of Kinja, we're back to the "star commenter" system?

Erm, according to the article, Dedenne? Or do you mean some other Pokemon?

Yeah, most of it was Davis and Enron. There was another one in SoCal in 2005 though, and PG&E gave me a discount for the ability to remotely throttle back my air conditioner during peak hours to prevent brownouts.

Bait and switch, apparently. Don't know why they bothered. Video was good.

No kidding. If we're to compare infrastructure, sometimes I feel that the US is behind many "third world" countries. Let's not forget the occasional steam pipe explosions in NYC, disgraceful conditions of the roads, the California rolling blackouts during early 2000s, etc.

Was it a lot? It was played twice, once in slo mo. Bet you never watched yourself pee in slow motion. If you have, it's OK, I don't need to know :)

You are my hero for the day.

I believe you can break many laws without violating anything in the constitution. That kid is not only annoying, but wrong. But real question here - if ordered by a police officer to sit down when I'm not under arrest, am I legally required to do so?

That was awful and I feel really bad for laughing.

CrossFit sounds like Scientology without Tom Cruise in this article.

Thanks. I wonder how far people need to be for them not to be endangered by the ball bearings though. If the ball bearings are powerful enough to neutralize RPG and missiles, even a couple of hundred yards is not a lot of comfort.

I see... good point, keep firing useless RPG rounds at the tank until its active protection is depleted, then fire the real one. But the other part of the system - highlighting the enemy who fired the RPG - might not contribute to the health and well-being of the guys firing the RPGs.
