This type of writing is an attempt to convey in-person informal communication (which is primarily verbal and physical) into a textual form. Emojis and other types of text-speak make up for the enormous amount of information lost when moving this type of communication to writing.

As someone who tends to play games a little by the book, I was surprised to find the special fairy second.
