Some of the stories coming out with the recent IATSE strike really underscore how all of that flowing money does zero for the basic health and safety of the majority of people on set.

Why do I get the feeling that this “article” would be very differently worded if, say, Cate Blanchett or Keanu Reeves was the one holding the prop gun?
And also, obviously it was a prop gun. Whether that prop gun was prepared or handled safely is open to investigation. But it was clearly a prop gun.
I think the bigger question in terms of how this massive fuck-up occurred is why was there a projectile in the gun? I was once in a play that required a gunshot, and the consultant (a cop) would not let the props team even put a blank in the gun to create the gunshot sound, because on rare occasions blanks can cause…
Prop master is probably going to end up in so much shit over this
Literally every other article/news clip I’ve seen about this used the word “misfire” to describe this terrible accident ... but “clicks” I guess
What the actual hell is the tone of this article???
In previous similar accidents the cause has been fragments of previous blank rounds lodged in the barrel. It’s the responsibility of the prop-master to clean them between firings and ensure their safety.
The obvious desire to insinuate that Alec Baldwin is criminally responsible for purposefully shooting someone is gross.
Why call out that there was no definitive proof the gun was not a prop gun, but not any of the other facts of the story that came from the same or similar sources (i.e. the investigators)? Seems like you’re trying to imply something.
Shannon doesn’t have a conscience or any journalistic integrity. The entirety of her portfolio is just an ongoing effort to find new ways to drag Jezebel further into the sleazy underbelly of tabloid gossip and celebrity harassment.
What a cunt move, Shannon. “Alec Baldwin discharged a firearm on the set of his latest film” is followed soon thereafter with, “The firearm, which is being referred to as a “prop gun” in the media without any definitive proof that it was not a real firearm...”
What the fuck is this headline? It makes it sound like Baldwin was complicit in some way in the shooting. I get it, he’s an asshole, but there’s literally 0 evidence that on his end this was anything but an awful accident. The prop guy may be culpable, but Baldwin sure as shit isn’t.
The only thing I would say is that it depends on how they are losing the weight and how they are being about it publicly. It would appear that Rebel has done nothing publicly to promote any kind of unhealthy weight loss service, so her weight loss is her personal thing and none of my business. But, some celebrities…
“…and the compliments came rollling in and it was so weird to be told how great I looked when I was at my lowest.”
Yeah, there’s an unfortunate difference between “I want you to love yourself however you’re shaped” and “I need you to remain heavy and positive so I can feel better about myself.”
Parasocial relationships, over-identification, projection, whatever — we need to bring back the Greek pantheon for glomming, and stop demanding someone’s personal life be an integral part of their job (save exceptions involving criminal/abusive behavior, and others I can’t think of right now).
What is genuinely surprising to me around the issue of “body positivity” (or was surprising, before it happened a bunch of times,) is the number of people who come out of the woodwork to say mean things about celebrities (and particularly female celebrities,) after they’ve lost a significant amount of weight. I think…
I think you hit the nail on the head. It’s kind of a shitty trap that I can see a lot of them falling into. Like Oprah, as she mentioned. Or Kirstie Alley. You lose weight and get a sponsor and I would imagine at that point the pressure is immense and the fear of falling off the wagon is immense and it all snowballs…
To be fair, Fat Amy gave herself the nickname Fat Amy so the twig bitches didn’t do it behind her back.
