Today the local app donated 10% of sales to the local food bank.... I hope nothing comes out about them being shady, because I like supporting them doing.

That’s why I feel really lucky my community has it’s own delivery app. It was actually started by a group of local restaurants, and while now not all the participating restaurants are part owner’s in the app, they are at least represented by other local business owners. All the restaurants on it are local, no chains,

He’s been supportive and not canceled... But I did laugh a little in her interview on Sporkful when Sohla was like “I think Brad just found out racism still exists”. That lack of awareness might place him in the himbo category.

I was always interested in this. Because a lot of places will have a token black person and claim diversity. BA didn’t have a Black person, but they had a LGBTQ+ Latino, LGBTQ+ West Asian, South Asian, and East Asian....some groups that don’t always get representation, much less multiple representation. Like they’ll

Yep. I still think it is important to go to restaurants for "ethnic" foods owned by non-white people rather than just trusting a white guy knows best. But I've definitely fallen into the trap of expecting a "twist" at non-white owned restaurants. But, now I'm aware and can try and do better in the future and share

Ooops. Here you go

This is an interesting article about Sohla and her restaurant, kind of along those lines.

Now playing

She says he can keep the cheap piece of tin after “you think I’m staying here with you in this wagon”.

I didn't know Jeff Conaway played Danny on Broadway.... But while I was reading up on this fact, I learned the role originator was Barry Bostwick!?! Never in a million years would have guessed that.

That’s why I get so frustrated at this whole thing. People want to make it very black and white. And it isn’t.

It is an art, but there is a lot of science and technique to it. Even people that don’t go to culinary school learn from other people, whether that be in a kitchen or YouTube videos. They aren’t entirely self-taught.

I have some family that live in New Mexico, and so this topic has come up a few times on our family Zoom calls. It kept surprising me how many of them were convinced that somehow there is some big genetic difference that makes them more susceptible to this, and that is why it was killing so many people. I was shocked

It’s Cherry Bombe for one. And it is a magazine, podcast, and book focused on women in the cooking industry.

I don’t specifically know any weirdness. UT, Cherry Bombe made a post about it on their Instagram and a lot of current BA people that would have worked with her liked it. Now, it’s possible they were just “liking” the general content of the post about being aware of your privilege, lifting others up, etc. But, I think

Yeah, I don’t think her points are wrong. But, did she need to drag other women to make them? Especially women of color that aren’t actually doing what she accused them of.

Interestingly, she does have the training. People so quick to dismiss her as “a former model” or “a singer’s wife” don’t know she did do a condensed training at the French Culinary Institute.

But neither woman is doing what she has accused them of doing. Yes, Marie Kondo is selling items, but they aren’t branded. They are actually what Alison claims she wants, supporting existing manufacturers of products she uses. And Chrissy Tiegan isn’t running a content farm like she was accused of.

I don’t think her sentiments were wrong . If she had just said that she didn’t want to develop products lines (well, except for her collections with Madewell and J.Crew because those are different somehow), have line out the door popularity, or no longer be the one in charge of her content, we wouldn’t be having this

I’ve been rewatching ‘Party Down’ lately. Adam Scott is indeed a treasure....butnman is it a flip to go from watching him as Henry then to him as Ben.

The only one I really missed was Jen Barkley.
