But the difference between Civil War and BvS is that Civil War was able to juggle being upbeat and dark and serious really well, while BvS was 99% dark and serious, so the few times they tried to be humorous ("I thought she was with you", Martha Kent's reaction to being saved by Batman) it felt weird and out of place.
