If you paid attention to the science, you’d realize that a LOT of things can be bad for women, but a blanket policing of behaviour is ridiculous because we’re still flying blind on a lot of things pregnancy, since it’s medically unethical to do randomized studies on most things during pregnancy.

SO, the reason people are pissed at you is because of the logic at play here. If you think that women’s diets during pregnancy should be regulated by others in some way, then you’re posting a fairly strong position that women’s bodies, when occupied by a fetus, are not their own.

I am none of those ‘policing' people you mention regarding abortion, etc. I also do not advocate smoking, but I’m a smoker and when people get all up in my business about it (and they do) and feel compelled to tell me it’s hazardous to my health, I have to remind them that there’s one thing more hazardous to oneself…
